Software Licensing Made Easy

Microsoft Open Value is a premium volume licensing offer available under the Open licence family. Designed for organisations with as few as five computers, Open Value offers simpler licence tracking, greater control over the software upgrade cycle, and better software cost management.

Open Value also offers the advantages of Software Assurance, which includes new version upgrades, technical training, user training, partner services, and product support. These benefits are available through the term of the agreement to improve software resource planning, return on investment and IT professional and user productivity.

Moreover, Open Value makes software licensing a whole lot easier than previous programs.

FAQs

Q1: Why are the licensing agreements changing?
Microsoft® has modified its volume licensing offering for small and medium businesses to improve the program's flexibility. The new Open Value offering delivers greater price simplicity, improved licence tracking and a shorter licensing agreement when compared with the expiring Multi-Year Open (MYO) or Open Subscription Licence (OSL) agreements.

Q2: Open Value provides a few agreement options including company-wide and subscription. How do I know which one is the best?
If you are looking for a cost effective way to purchase Microsoft software licences for five or more PC's, then Microsoft Open Value is right for you. The subscription option allows you to standardise the desktop software for a lower entry cost for a three-year term without permanently purchasing the software licences, while the company-wide option also delivers standardisation, but with full licence ownership at the end of the agreement period. Both of these options include Software Assurance offer spread licence payments and discounts for multiple licence orders as well as three-year agreement terms.

A non company-wide option is also available for customers who don't wish to standardise their desktops.

Q3: Does your current MYO or OSL agreement automatically convert to an Open Value agreement?

No, 90 days prior to the existing agreement's expiration, you will receive notification from Microsoft offering the opportunity to convert existing agreements to an Open Value agreement. You will have the option of transferring licences covered under MYO or OSL to a new Open Value agreement, or you can allow your existing agreement to expire by taking no action.

Q4: How does an Open Value agreement save money?
Companies that commit to licensing the desktop platform company-wide or via the subscription option are eligible for platform discounts on their software licences. In addition, you can achieve easier cash flow management with the spread payment option.
