Major TV Channel Selects EMC and Transam for Data Storage and Archiving 18 June 2007, London: TV companies need to archive huge amounts of data. EMC Velocity Partner, Transam, tells how it’s done. This national TV channel had issues with storage and asked Transam to undertake a review of its data management capability and storage resource. As a first step, Transam installed EMC’s VisualSRM software to display how storage resources are being used and to help its client reclaim wasted capacity. We helped the client optimise its storage utilisation and eliminate server outages and application downtime due to uncontrolled disk space consumption. The client asked Transam to improve the operational efficiency of its messaging environments in order to reduce the cost and risk of legal discovery, whilst automating e-mail retention and disposal policies to meet regulatory requirements. Transam recommended EMC’s EmailXtender and DiskXtender solutions as it would provide the best strategic fit and works with all major messaging environments including Microsoft Exchange. To complement EmailXtender and DiskXtender, Transam recommended an EMC Centera solution to meet the unique requirements of storing and managing the client’s archives. Centera is the leading solution for the archiving of what is known as ‘fixed content’—data such as static images, CAD/CAM designs or X-rays that cannot be altered. The world's first content addressed storage (CAS) solution, EMC Centera provides the broadcaster with fast, easy online access with assured content authenticity and petabyte scalability. For an investment of less than £300k in EMC’s solutions and Transam’s expertise, this household broadcaster is realising significant benefits from greatly improved performance of their new storage and archiving capability. Call Transam, an EMC Velocity Partner, on 020 7812 1500 to discuss how we can help you with successful storage and archiving management solutions. | |
